MLPT has been a provider of physical therapy to developmentally disabled individuals for over three decades. Our mission is to assist, enhance, augment or facilitate the gross motor skills necessary for individuals to achieve functional goals.

Developmental disability comprises a diverse group of chronic conditions that cause individuals challenges to their mobility, cognition, language and communication. Developmentally disabled individuals also have a higher the probability of disabling conditions such as:

  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Movement Disorders
  • Psychiatric Problems
  • Seizure Disorders
  • Visual and/or Hearing Problems

Maple Leaf Physical Therapy has 33 years of experience facilitating gross motor and cognitive skills for individuals with intellectual and physical development disabilities. MLPT utilizes a developmental program which emphasizes:

  • Head and Upper Extremity control Mobility
  • Positioning and Progress of Weight-bearing
  • Supported Ambulation
  • Supported Standing
  • Tone Control and Tissue Mobility

Emphasis on these categories provides the postural stability and weight-bearing stability for sustained daily activities such as modified employment and recreation. Advance weight-bearing activities provide bone health while facilitating respiration, digestion, and circulation.
